The leaders of APRU member universities meet annually to interact on issues relating to higher education as well as the strategic direction of APRU. These discussion forums provide international platforms facilitating dialogue and exchange amongst universities, and towards developing and reviewing the overall direction and implementation of APRU’s policies and initiatives. The centerpiece of APRU’s calendar of events is the Annual Presidents Meeting. At this meeting, the presidents address issues relating to APRU’s governance and strategy and matters of strategic importance to research universities.

Recent meeting: 14th Annual Presidents Meeting Hosted by: University of Auckland Date: June 30 - July 2, 2010 The 14th Annual Presidents Meeting, hosted by the University of Auckland from June 30 to July 2, 2010, included a forum centered on the theme “Global Challenges – Pacific Perspectives”. A total of 18 APRU presidents and 57 senior staff and delegates from 32 member institutions discussed topics revolving around key challenges facing the Pacific Rim including climate change, trade, population flows, security and international relations, and the leadership role that APRU universities play in their respective economies in addressing regional issues and fostering regional cooperation.
