9th Annual Presidents Meeting

The APRU 9th Annual Presidents Meeting this year was held back-to-back with the AAU-APRU Presidents Roundtable at National University of Singapore.

A total of 31 presidents and 44 senior staff attended the 9th Annual Presidents Meeting to discuss APRU business matters, new initiatives and matters of strategic importance to research universities in the Pacific Rim.
An APRU World Institute (AWI) was proposed to provide opportunities for research and scholarly collaborations in trans-geographical and inter-cultural concerns. A Pro-Tem Governing Board will be set up to oversee the institute's set up. APRU Chair Professor Shih Choon Fong will chair the AWI's Governing Board.
University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor Gavin Brown was elected Vice
Chair of APRU while University of Tokyo President Hiroshi Komiyama
was elected Member of the APRU Steering Committee.
