• University of Tokyo hosted AWI's 2nd Public Health Workshop, entitled "Strengthening Public Health Systems in the Pacific Rim: The Role of Research Universities in Responding to Ageing & Chronic Disease, Infectious Disease and Health Security Issues" on June 23-25, 2008.

• University of Malaya hosted AWI's 2nd Planning Meeting on Pacific Rim Cities: Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies Project and the Planning Meeting for the 2nd AWI Climate Change Workshop on April 27-29, 2008.
