APRU Steering Committee appoints Interim Chair and Vice Chair
May 20, 2009 – The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Steering Committee has announced the appointment of President Wei Yang of Zhejiang University as Interim Chair and Chancellor Henry T. Yang of University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) as Vice Chair of the consortium. Both appointments will commence after current Chair Professor Yuichiro Anzai concludes his term as President of Keio University on May 27, 2009.
An engineer by training, President Wei Yang was appointed President of Zhejiang University in August 2006 and elected a member of the APRU Steering Committee at the 2008 Annual Presidents Meeting (APM) hosted by Keio University.
Professor Henry T. Yang joined UCSB as chancellor and professor of mechanical engineering in 1994, and has been a member of the APRU Steering Committee since APRU's establishment in 1997.
The APRU Steering Committee wishes to express its thanks to President Wei Yang and Chancellor Henry T. Yang for accepting these leadership roles in the APRU consortium.
