ELECTION OF NEW CHAIRMAN AND STEERING COMMITTEE
 

July 2, 2008 - President Yuichiro Anzai of Keio University has been elected as the consortium's new Chairman, taking over from Vice-Chancellor Gavin Brown of University of Sydney with effect from June 28.  Professor Brown has been appointed as the inaugural Director of The Royal Institution of Australia (RiAus).  He will retire as Vice-Chancellor and Principal of University of Sydney on July 10, 2008, after 12 years in the position.

Presidential members of the new Steering Committee includes President Vladimir Kurilov of Far Eastern National University, Vice-Chancellor Glyn Davis of University of Melbourne, President Shih Choon Fong of National University of Singapore, President Steven Sample of University of Southern California, President Yang Wei of Zhejiang University, Chancellor Henry Yang of University of California, Santa Barbara, and Rector Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri of University of Indonesia.
