Advancing Ethical, Inclusive, Human-Centered AI
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming societies, economies, and governance systems, offering powerful tools to address complex development challenges. In the Asia-Pacific, its potential is especially critical amid demographic shifts, persistent inequalities, climate vulnerability, and the need to reimagine growth models in a diverse geopolitical landscape. Despite strong digital innovation, many economies face gaps in education, access, governance, and institutional capacity—limiting their ability to fully harness AI for equitable and sustainable progress.
What APRU Does
Since 2017, APRU’s AI program has focused on strengthening AI readiness, advancing responsible and inclusive AI adoption, shaping regional policy and governance frameworks, and surfacing successful use cases of AI for Social Good. It delivers impact through four strategic pillars: research and policy engagement, multi-stakeholder dialogues, capacity building, and policy innovation.
