This seminar will take an evidence-based approach to provide mentors and mentees with the tools needed to identify imposter syndrome and will provide practical examples relevant to women in positions of leadership or women aspiring to positions of leadership in higher education. Following the 60-minute seminar, attendees are invited to a 30-minute informal networking space. Attendees will be split into un-facilitated breakout rooms to make connections and discuss topics of interest.

Ana Cecilia Ahedo Azuara is a Doctor in Psychology with a focus on both health and clinical psychology, with postgraduate training in contemporary systemic approaches and family therapy from Mexico City College (Universidad de las Américas – UDLA CDMX); she also has a diploma in neuroscience and one in behavioral sciences. She has worked with families, couples, and individuals from the systemic and postmodern approaches since 2016.
Ana Cecilia started working for Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2016. In this institution, she has had different roles, as a teacher in International Baccalaureate, a teacher of the bachelor’s in Psychology, Medicine and Nutritional science, and the leader of Academic Societies and Learning Communities in the School of Medicine and Health Science. She is currently the director of the first three semesters of all the bachelor programs in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City.
Simultaneously, Ana Cecilia is a humanitarian clown and a volunteer of the Gesundheit! Institute founded by Patch Adams and the School for Designing a Society, and other NGOs. She has attended different clown trips around the world and is in charge of organizing the Mexico City Clown Trip each year.
Ana Cecilia’s current topics of interest are: the relationship between psychological well-being and inflammatory bowel disease, the impact of chronic diseases in couples’ relationships, and the role of psychology and psychotherapy in multidisciplinary health settings.
Gabriela M. Ruiz Soto is the associate director of the Health Sciences Division at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico City campus.
She holds a PhD in Biomedical and Electronic Engineering from Loughborough University and a MSc. in Mechatronics and Optical Engineering from the same university; in addition to having a first degree in Physics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
She has been a professor at various institutions and was a technical advisor in lasers for medicine at Carl Zeiss of Mexico.
She joined Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2001 as a professor, teaching different courses at professional and postgraduate level. In 2003 she began her career as Department Director, her experience has been enriched by being director of the Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Clinical and Health Psychology departments in different appointments.
In addition to carrying out administrative and academic activities, her professional activity is focused on the development of medical devices; an area in which she has been granted two national patents and one international. Her current interests are in digital healthcare.
She has carried out consulting activities, directed master’s theses and has articles in national and international publications, as well as book translations.
Committed to the professional development of women in the world, she currently volunteers as a mentor in the Women’s Network of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property in Mexico, and in the “Asia Pacific Women in Leadership Mentoring Program” initiative of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities.
