The SCL Program uses a “working group” framework to produce actionable knowledge and plans from each annual conference. Rather than focusing on disseminating research that has already been completed, conferences focus on developing joint research collaboration that bridge multi-disciplinaries, and contributing towards finding solutions to the pressing problems of this century.
This year’s working groups will incorporate concepts from previous conferences while adjusting to focus on the particular circumstances of the Galapagos archipelago, with supports by experts from Ecuador.
- Urban Landscape Biodiversity
- Water, Waste Water & Global Health
- Sustainable Urban Design & Transitions in Waterfronts
- Future Energy Landscapes and Vulnerable Communities

A student symposium incorporated into the conference will allow young researchers to experience and be exposed to the valuable conversations of the APRU-SCL network. Students will present their work and PhD students will be partnered with an experienced mentor in their field for valuable insight and networking opportunities.
Fill in the form here by June 30 to express your interests to join the student symposium.
Email your title and brief abstract of your presentation (250-500 words) [email protected] if the form submission does not work for you.
